Rachel Linley

Rachel Perrier

Executive Director
(On maternity leave until October, 2010)

Rachel has been with LDANS since 2005 and has worked in many different roles. Her portfolio includes a wide array of fundraising campaigns, event management, public relations, and most recently she oversaw the expansion of the LINKS Children’s Literacy program into five additional sites across Canada.Rachel assumes the duties of advancing the well being of persons living with and affected by learning disabilities and their families for the province of Nova Scotia. In doing this, she will continue to develop strategies through advocacy work, program development and planning, and public education in order to address the needs of this community.

Rachel previously enjoyed a career as a Registered Massage Therapist and enjoys making contributions to the community through activities such as participating in the CBCF Run for the Cure.

Sue Fowler

Acting Executive Director

Sue joined LDANS in October 2009. Her portfolio includes a wide array of fundraising campaigns, event management, public relations and the LINKS Children’s Literacy program. Sue assumes the duties of advancing the well being of persons living with and affected by learning disabilities and their families for the province of Nova Scotia. In doing this, she will continue to develop strategies through advocacy work, program development and planning, and public education in order to address the needs of this community.

A native “Maritimer”, Sue completed her post secondary education at the University of Victoria. Having previously enjoyed a career as an Investment Advisor, Sue brings a strong financial background to the not-for-profit arena.

Sue has been involved with the not-for-profit for many years. She has sat on various committees and has spearheaded several fundraising campaigns. In 2005 Sue participated in a CIBC Wood Gundy charity climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Currently, she is Vice Chair of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation Atlantic Chapter as well as a National Board Member of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Sue is an avid cyclist and loves the outdoors.

Erin Woodbury

Program Coordinator

Erin Woodbury became a member of LDANS in March of 2008 when she assumed the position as Literacy Program Coordinator for LINKS. She is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the program, including clinical assessments, training and supervision of literacy teachers, and promotion of early identification for at-risk readers through community outreach projects.

Erin graduated from Mount Saint Vincent’s in 2004 with a bachelor of applied arts in Child & Youth Studies, and continued her studies at Dalhousie University, where she obtained her Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology in 2007.

Erin has recently moved back to Halifax from Moncton, New Brunswick, where she worked with the Extra Mural Program as a community based Speech Language Pathologist.

Matt Currie

Matt Currie

Communications & Special Events Coordinator

Matt Currie joined the LDANS team in March of 2008 as Coordinator of Communications and Special Events. His primary responsibilities include the planning and implementation of annual events, such as: Play With the Stars golf tournament, Conference on Learning Disabilities, Learning Disabilities Awareness Month, and Blind Date With a Star. In this role, Matt also develops communications products and strategies to further the mandate of LDANS in the external community.

Matt is an alumni of Mount Saint Vincent University, where he completed his Bachelor of Arts in political science. He then attained an Advanced Diploma in Public Relations from NSCC. Matt is involved in the PR community as Co-Chair of Education with the Canadian Public Relations Society.

Daphne Arsenault

Administration Coordinator

Daphne Arsenault joined the LDANS team in September 2009. She has extensive experience working in office administration combined with a background in early childhood education. Her role with the Learning Disabilities Association includes administrative support to other team members with programs, services, fundraising, as well as general office duties.

In her spare time, Daphne participates in local charity events, including the Medavie Blue Cross Canoe Challenge – and is eagerly looking forward to next year’s challenge! She also enjoys kayaking, and geo-caching along many of the beautiful trails in and around HRM.

Paula Luedemann

Psychologist

Paula recently joined the LDANS team in August 2009 when she assumed the position as Psychologist and Outreach Program Coordinator. Her primary responsibilities include providing psycho-educational assessments for pre-screened adults. Paula will also be facilitating the Making Connections - Empowering Families workshop series starting January 2010.

Paula graduated from Acadia University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and continued her studies at the University of Alberta, where she obtained her Masters of Counselling Psychology. Paula is registered with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology as a Psychologist (Candidate Register) and is a member of the Association of Psychologists of Nova Scotia (APNS).
