The Learning Disabilities Association of Canada Launches New Website for Youth With Learning Disabilities
Recently, the Learning Disabilities Association of Canada (LDAC) unveiled an all-new website, called youth2youth.ca. The website, which had to be shut down during the first 24 hours because of overcrowding, is designed to address the need that youth across Canada have in transitioning from school to the workplace or to post-secondary education. Users will have the chance to learn practical skills, from marketing themselves for the workforce to tips on moving away for the first time.
“We’re thrilled that LDAC has launched this service. In Nova Scotia, our members are consistently looking for support in making these types of transitions and it is a struggle to fulfill the need. We foresee this tool being widely embraced”, says Rachel Linley, Executive Director of the Learning Disabilities Association of Nova Scotia.
The website is partially funded by the Government of Canada’s Social Development Partnerships Program through the Department of Human Resources and Skills Development, and through generous support from members of the association and the corporate community.
This website is more relevant now than ever, particularly to youth who use the Internet as their main research tool. In addition to providing tips and support, the site will also list available job opportunities and post-secondary options targeted at youth with learning disabilities.
The Learning Disabilities Association of Nova Scotia is a charitable not for profit association, dedicated to providing leadership in learning disabilities education, programs, research and advocacy to advance the full participation of children, youth and adults with learning disabilities in Nova Scotia.
